The Praxis stage is a period of practice and consolidation between the Basic and Advanced courses.

We will provide support to you in the following ways:

  • 2 x scheduled mentoring sessions by phone/Skype/personal visit by a Nature and Therapy UK Mentor. Other additional sessions can be booked individually between Mentor and Mentee.
  • 2 x peer supervision sessions by group conference call/ zoom call
  • 1 x supervision session with Stefan.

You will have a minimum of 6 months to complete the praxis period and a maximum of 3 years.

During this period you are asked to do the following:

  • Lead a minimum of 6 SY walks, preferably with different client groups and different venues. One of those walks will be a 1 to 1 with a client.
  • Complete a medicine walk. A day walk solo in Nature.
  • Learn 3 new plants or animals intimately and record your findings and interactions with these, and what medicine/teaching they bring you – present your findings in written form or other media.
  • Write 2 essays relating to Shinrin-Yoku. Each essay is a minimum 2 sides of A4.

You will also have access to the online community via Facebook. This page acts as a forum to share ideas, requests for support, or local events, work offers, press releases, new books, poems, pictures, anecdotes, jokes, recipes, moans and celebrations.

We are in the process of negotiating a new SY insurance policy so we can offer a discounted rate to members. We hope to also offer other membership benefits, as we can put these in place through the office team.
Once you have completed the elements of the praxis stage, and your written work has been marked you are welcome to join the Advanced training courses.
Details of our new 3 day Advanced courses and our 2 day stand alone Creativity, Art and Nature course can be sent out on request.
